Some Montana prison inmates are making toys to spread Christmas cheer

DEER LODGE -- Some inmates at the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge are working to put their lives back together as carefully as they help create Christmas toys.
"I hate to say, this isn't my first time in the institution and this time it's been quite the wake-up. This is great, this gives us something to give back to the community," said inmate Mike Poma.
The inmates working with Montana Correctional Enterprises have handcrafted more than 200 toys for the Toys For Tots program, which gives toys to needy families. The program gets these select few inmates out the of the prison general population and into a workshop environment.

"I love it. I think it gives us a sense of purpose and accomplishment. It's nice to give back, I think it's a great cause," said inmate Andrew Lincks.
Inmate Chris Moes added, "It's nice not seeing the sunlight glistening off the razor wire, you know, in the morning."
